The procedure involves using a very fine needle or cannula to apply specifically placed injections with small amounts of hyaluronic acid, which is a natural substance that already exists in the human body. When injected, fillers increase fullness and reduce indentions beneath the eyes.

It’s best to avoid drinking alcohol for at least 24 hours before the treatment. Avoid taking aspirin for 7 days and Ibuprofen 48 hours before treatment.

We use Hyaluronic acid and Teosyal Puresense Redensity II which are made specifically to treat around the eye area. The product has a light gel with mechanical properties, which means it needs little pressure to penetrate the under eye skin as it’s more delicate than the rest of the face, minimizing the risk of bruising and swelling after injection.

There is no set age for tear trough therapy, however you may notice the development of tear trough hollows in your late 20s. Those with more severe under-eye bags may not benefit from the tear trough therapy and may pursue blepharoplasty to get the desired look.

According to Marco Barbanente, "someone who is older with larger bags, lots of excess skin, pigmentation, and/or very thin skin" is not a suitable candidate for under eye filler. In most cases, filler is not a solution for dark circles.

Generally pain is minimal and most patients tolerate it very easily. The needle used is tiny and used only once to make a hole for the cannula which is then almost pain free.
